To Whom it May Concern:
I am pleased to write this letter in support of the application of artist Wendy Kaye for a grant from the D.C. Commission for the Arts as I deem her to be a painter of perception showing the skills that one looks for in the mature signature with medium. I am able to attest to the growth of the artist as I have seen her work over the past five years. It is alive, progressive and soundly grounded. From the stance of a painter whose work in 1979-80 echoed the solid flow of paint from an expressionistic point of view, Ms. Kaye has moved her artistry in a spirited manner beyond recognizable influences to that of a more personal style which dictates that she paint out of her own experiences. Her work is stronger and more mature through such a change as one observes here.
I think that she would be a fine investment for the Commission in seeking talent that is not overexposed yet professionally sound. I know nothing of Ms. Kaye that would make me doubtful of her seriousness of purpose in art and determination to continue the practice of her craft on the highest level and, therefore, am pleased to write without reservations in her behalf. I hope that, you will look favorably upon her application as I believe that she is most deserving in this regard.
If I can be of further service please feel free to calI on me.
Sincerely,
