Artist's Statement
Clueless. I’m totally clueless as to why I paint and draw what I paint & draw. Rationally speaking that is. What I do know is that it’s essential to listen to my own body. Exploring gut reactions, creative impulses, delicious temptations, intuitive feelings and annoying hunches gives clues to my muse and sheds light on my inner life. Commingling this intuitive knowledge with intellect and reason establishes the basis from which I make decisions, create boundaries, and go forth in life.
Human beings ignite my creative impulse. Any human may catch my attention, but the female grabs me in particular. Her flesh, contours, mystery, and complexity demand my attention and capture my imagination. I use the female body in my art to discover and mirror a hidden life yearning to be visable.
My torsos extend an invitation to you to look, experience, confront, and acknowledge your intuitive responses. These reactions may provide you with food for thought — or maybe they won’t. That’s up to you.
